I am of the line of descent from Edmond Thomas of Kent, England whose children Christopher and Tristram settled eventually in Talbot County MD. There have been assumptions by some researchers that a Rev. Tristram/Tristam Thomas of St. Nicholas Church, Alfold, Surrey, England was the ancestor of Edmond Thomas. Today, I received the following information from a correspondent on the Surrey-L mailing list on Rootsweb: Came across the following, taken from 'Surrey Archaeological Collections', vol. XXVII of the Surrey Arch. Soc., 1914, page 93:- Within an article 'Rectors & Vicars of Surrey Parishes' Alfold 'Thomas Tristam, not Tristam Thomas, died within a year of his institution. On his death- John Westbrook was inst.29 Jan. 1560, Jane Bray being patron (B.R., Parker, Sede Vae., II, 166)' The quote as found. The reference is unknown to me. I looked up the surname Tristam on the IGI and the earliest reference to a family named Tristam is: Elyzabeth Tristam 02 JUL 1646   Saint Savior, Dartmouth, Devon, England father Jeffrye It appears almost certain that Rev.
