I have a John Thomas in my family, who went from KY to IN. He had a brother Lewis Thomas. The two names are used repeatedly in the family, so this may be your line. They all seemed to moved from VA/PA to KY to IN. I have a lot on this Thomas family, if you could give me some dates it would help find the right John Thomas. I was just recently told that my Thomas was not a descendant of John Thomas and Elizabeth Poage, I'd been operating under the theory I was as my great aunt twice removed had a certificate stating she was a daughter of the American Colonists through Robert Poage and she had done genealogy charts which included them. I had been trying to extend the charts and family history. She was the great granddaughter of Lewis Thomas, who came from Mercer Co to Pike County, IN. His father was supposedly a John Thomas who lived atleast most of his life, even if not born there, in Mercer Co, KY. Does anyone else know of any other John Thomas' in Mercer Co, KY? To help and try to clear this whole mess up, I had also seen mentioned that Elizabeth Poage actually wrote about the early settlers at some point in her life. Has anyone seen this book or publication? If so, I'd really like to look it over to try and sort this whole mess out. Any help as now I am starting at ground zer! o on my THomas family research would really help. I think some others have based their Thomas research on Lucile Viehe Failings research (my great aunt twice removed), so be warned in case she is incorrect in her assumption they are Poage descendants. I will let everyone know if I find anything proving or disproving Poage's relation to my John Thomas.
