    3. Marcia, I also have Thomas in CT. But I'm afraid that mine don't match up to yours. But your James and my DeWitt are only two years apart in age. Most of my info comes from census and court records, when DeWitt died. DeWitt A. Thomas B: 1820 CT D: 11/1/1870 Nebraska City, NE Wife: Louisa Pile B: ? WI D: ? Remarried to ? Farley in CT Children (with DeWitt) 1. Charles Victor Thomas B: 12/28/1863 Fremount County, Iowa D: 9/23/1947 Nebraska City, NE Wife: Hattie Ott 7/3/1887 B: 12/5/1870 D: 3/19/1954 Nebraska City, NE 2. Edward B; 1862 Iowa 3. Ella Imogene B: 1/16/1851 D: ? Husband: John M. Ellsworth (They resided in CT) 4. H. (Female) B:9/1869 NE D: ? (According to census, she died as a child) When DeWitt died, Ella sent a letter through her lawyer. Stating that she was DeWitt's daughter. And that her mother (now remarried) and her lived in Hartford CT. All the paperwork in Nebraska City, NE only listed the two boys. My husband is decended from Charles. I cannot seem to get any farther back than DeWitt in CT. It almost seems as if he just appeared there one day. >Subject: [THOMAS] THOMAS in CT >Date: Tue, 29 Jul 2003 09:57:43 -0500 >From: "Marcia Smith" <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] > >Dear 'Thomas clan'~ >I continue to enjoy the great flurry of THOMAS messages! >But--I haven't found my CT connection yet~ >so haven't connected to their THOMAS ancestors homeland. >Please- anyone recognize my James THOMAS >Searching James THOMAS, b.Abt 1822 in CT. >m.25 Jul 1841 Litchfield Co., CT > Spouse:Harriet EDGET / EDGITT >Children of James and Harriet: Ellen THOMAS, b.9 Apr 1844 in CT. >For years now, I have been unable to establish a CT connection for my >THOMAS >family. >I'm indebted to this treasured THOMAS site (Thanks Vickie!) for >noting James >THOMAS with wife Harriet and children in 1850 census Newtown, >Fairfield Co., >CT, which is located on Long Island Sound-- and my thoughts are that >they >would not have come over in the 1620's as my father believed.
