I am descended from Owen Thomas, son of Lewis Thomas, of Frederick VA. Owen married Mary Hardin, daughter of John Hardin and Catherine Marr. Owen and Mary sold their land in Frederick and reportedly migrated with Daniel Boone to Kentucky. They and their descendents show up in Washington, Hardin and Grayson Counties. I have a lot of information back to Owen Thomas on this line, but am struggling to connect him to Evan Thomas of the same area. Hence my email to the list including the information below and the information on the early land records for the Evan Thomas lines. Sam, would love more information on your source for Lewis Thomas's sons. The Lewis Thomas of Frederick VA has for certain a son Owen who is his heir at law at his death in same county, I have inventory of his estate and other records. I know of no other children yet and would love to find more. Also need Lewis's brothers, as I suspect he may be son of Evan's brother. >On Tue, 11 Nov 2003 22:00:08 -0500 Sam Thomas <[email protected]> wrote. >In researching this line, it appears that several of the names keep appearing in many of the lines for which you decendants have very little information. If you go back and carefully review Ms. Martha K. Moses' post, you might find a clue to the origins of LEWIS, GEORGE, JONATHAN, JOHN and even EVAN THOMAS. These names just keep appearing on this THOMAS line without any resolution. Other than the information kindly provided by Ms. Martha K. Moses, does anyone have anything else relevant to share on the following line up to 1810? We need locations; dates; events; and records with source info. Let's see if we can link this line. > >WHO WERE THESE THOMASes? WHERE DID THEY GO? WHERE DID THEY LIVE? WHERE DID THEY DIE? WHO WERE THEIR CHILDREN? HOW DID THEY MAKE A LIVING? On 12 Nov 1735, he receives a patent from the Colony for 1014 acres (Tract 63 Map 4). This land is located in Frederick Co VA on Turkey Run, a branch of Opequon Creek." - provided by courtesy of Ms. Martha K. The Cumberland Trail was blazed by the Daniel Boone expedition in 1775 and stood open by 1780. > >Does anyone on the THOMAS list have anything more about these lines? > > >Sam Thomas >Roswell, Georgia >770-643-8880 > > >==== THOMAS Mailing List ==== > Aren't you glad you're a supporter of Rootsweb? > Don't we wish everyone could be one too! > http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html >
