My THOMAS line is from Anthony Thomas, b 1797 at Windham co., CT. Not a Southern line, but many New Englanders, unwilling to be either Patriot or Tory, fled south just prior to the American Revolution. Some 200 families ended up in Vicksburg, MS, while others dropped off along the route, in SC, GA and AL.
