I was under the impression from another list that the price is $170 per test, no volume discount. Is this true for the Thomas project also? >On Wed, 15 Oct 2003 10:50:06 -0400 Barbara Fitzmaurice <[email protected]> wrote. >I have my tester for the DNA project for our branch of the Thomas family so >all set for our participation. > >We need a descendant from Sullivan Co., TN line, Sevier Co., TN line yet I >think? I would like to ask about the Thomas DNA project. We have done it for our Harkey/Herche genealogy with wonderful results.... those that we thought matched did! Also part of one for the Berry family, my dad is a Berry. Granted, Thomas and Berry are much harder to trace than Herche/Harkey, but there are matches in any case. This is a little different. I have been searching in vain for Edward Thomas from Jackson, MS to no avail. Have not even found anyone that has this man in their line or knows anything of him. Here is what little I know. Edward Thomas (middle initial either G , E or I ). Born somewhere between 1921 and 1926, possibly. He was in the army, last stationed at Frankfurt - Höchst. Seems he was with Supply, his rank is assumed to have been 1st Sergeant or Master Sergeant. His stripes were three up, three down and "something" in the middle. He was stationed there from 1960 until Oct 31-Nov1 1962 when he left Germany and went to Fort Dix to seperate. He left an address behind in Jackson MS, PO something or other. No one remembers. He recieved mail there until the spring of 1963, after that his mail was returned as undeliverable. Last thing heard from him was that his health was not good and he was having trouble finding work. I am an adoptee who has searched and found birth parents, in that search I found my half brother, Edward Thomas is his father. The boy was given the name Thomas, after his father. Last name was Bornkessel. He was born November 4, 1962. Edward had been sending $$ for his son's upkeep until he just disappeared. It was said he was married and had 2 children, in 1961/2 they would have been 13 and 15, a boy and a girl, no idea of the birth order. Odd thing was, in the 2 years he was stationed in Germany he never once went to the states to see his kids, nor did his family ever visit. Who knows if its even true at all, his marriage et al. I know the name was right, thats what his military name plate said. No way to fudge that. In any case, could my brother toss his DNA into the ring and see if anyone matches? He lives in Germany but I don't think that matters at all. Since we have had no luck finding Edward, maybe he matches someone and can start from there? I know this can be very sensitive.... TIA, Nina
