My second line: Grissom THOMAS 1783 VA - 1852 Moore Co., NC m. Sarah OLIVER, 1788 - 1860. Grissom's Mother was Mary (maiden name unknown), she m2 Alexander HUNT. Bettye, Try locating the mother and father of your GRISSOM THOMAS with a search for a THOMAS man marrying a GRISSOM woman. It was common of the GRISSOM / GRESHAM / GRISHAM / "any which way you spell it" to give one or more children the maiden name of the mother or one of the grandmothers.
