I am searching for any scrap of information on Joseph THOMAS, born about 1831, Connecticut. The 1850 census shows a Joseph THOMAS, age 19, at N. Stonington, New London Co, Ct. This may be him but I have no other evidence. Joseph next shows up in Woodbine Twp, Jo Daviess Co, Illinois, married to Elmira BROWN, at least by 1856. They had a child, Mary Louisa THOMAS born in 1856. Two more children were born at that location, Melvina THOMAS, 1860, and Josephine Eveline THOMAS, 1862. In 1865 the family left for California by wagon train. Joseph died on the trail, the rest of the family continued on to California. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Beverly [email protected]
