Daisy and all; My great grandparents Sam and Annie Thomas came from Romania; they were Tomas and Ellis Island changed the name to Thomas. I have been doing genealogy for many many years and like very little being certificated in genealogy; I learned that Surnames come from very different places so don't ever just take the word of someone or just assume...when you hit that brick wall look at things you can't possible be and you might get that one hit. Although my husband's family tradition is that the original U. S. immigrant came from Wales, we can find nothing about this in records, (nor very little about him, period) but my husband's DNA matches perfectly with a man who can trace his tree back to Robert the Bruce of Scotland. Close you say, in proximity of the country! Perhaps, but look to the above mentioned book/video to see where the people who settled England REALLY came from. Very interesting.
