Shannon, I too have Thomas family in Burke County. But I can only go back to Henry Thomas who was born in Surry County in about 1799 and died in Gaston County, NC. about 1878. He married Mary Smith. His son, Larkin was born in Caldwell County in 1838 and died in Burke county on 19 June 1916. He married Mary Watson. I am stumped on my Thomas line. You have more than I have. I thought by his name being different, Larkin Ashley Thomas, it would stick out and be easily picked up. That hasn't been the case. Larkin fought in the Civil War and was in Co. F, 26th Regiment. He moved to Burke County in about 1893. He lived according to his Civil War pension record at Gibbs. He is buried in the Obeth Cemetery. Larkin is my great-grandfather.
