Do you have any idea where in Virginia Samuel James Thomas was born? I found your information interesting because my Thomas's moved to Claiborne Co TN at about the same time your Samuel did. I know my family was living in Washington Co VA in the late 1700's and up to about 1855, when David and Margaret Barbary Thomas (my gg grandparents) moved to Claiborne Co. TN. They were there for the 1860 census. Before the 1870 census, they had moved to Estill Co, KY. Some of their children married in Claiborne Co., then moved to Estill Co KY. I have recently seen references of other Thomas families moving to Clairborne Co TN and I wonder why? Was there a new source of land, work opportunities, or was it because other family members were there? My David Thomas was born 1808 in Washington Co VA. His father was Lewis Thomas, Sr. b. abt 1760, VA, marr'd Mary Elizabeth Widener in 1787; his father was Reuben Thomas, b abt 1730, 'of' Virginia. Washington Co VA is located in the southwestern wedge of Virginia near KY, TN, and North Carolina, not too far from Claiborne Co TN. I'm willing to share info, and welcome any new clues you might have to offer. On Mon, Feb 18, 2008 at 8:58 AM, <Southearls1@wmconnect.com> wrote: > > > I am looking for Info on my G.G.
