After seeing Wanda's message, I figured I'd ask about my "other" THOMAS branch. Anything on Joseph Harvey THOMAS b. 5 Sep 1805 KY? He married Sarah Ann SIDWELL in Pike Co., MO on 27 Jan 1831. About 1850, they moved north to Wisconsin. According to his son-in-law's biography: "In 1860, Mr. [Milo] Strong was united in marriage with Miss Sarah A. Thomas, a native of Missouri. As her father was a strong anti-slavery man, he moved north in 1850, but was the only one of his family to uphold the Union cause during the Civil War, having four brothers in the Confederate army. His five sons, however, wore the blue and fought gallantly for the old flag, which now floats so proudly above a united nation." I have no idea who the brothers are. 1840 Pike County, MO JH Thomas 2100010000000*11001 Verlinda S. Thomas 0000010000000*1100100001 Given the vicinity of Verlinda THOMAS in the 1840 census, I'm beginning to wonder if Joseph H. THOMAS' mother was Verlinda. There were 5 households in Pike Co., MO with no township listed in 1840: J. H. THOMAS, Verlinda THOMAS (but there's a male about Joseph's age in it), Edmund THOMAS, James W THOMAS, and R. J. THOMAS. Are these the four brothers of Joseph's? The JH Thomas is Joseph H. THOMAS' family, so that would leave 4. 1850 Benton, Lafayette Co., WI Census Joseph H. Sarah's death index entry says she was born in Lexington. No clue about her family, either. Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jen
