I can't answer your direct question - however, I have a small bit of information about a Stephen Thomas who is on the 1860 Washington Co VA census. He was born about 1815 and married to Elizabeth Grinstead. I'm wondering if he's a son of my Lewis Thomas, Sr. of Washington Co VA. I haven't found enough info to prove that connection. I have a list of his children per the 1860 census. Could this be the Stephen you're looking for?
