    3. I too am looking for Thomas family from western North Carolina. Henry Thomas was born in Surry County, NC in 1799, He died after 1878 in Gaston County, NC. He married Mary Smith. They had Elizabeth, John, Caroline, Larkin Ashley, Avery, Claretine, Mary, Robert C., and Doctor. My man was Larkin Ashley. I was named after him. He was born in Caldwell County, NC in 1838. He married Mary M. Watson, daughter of Peter and Roda Watson. Larkin and Mary's children were Sidney S, H. K., John Monroe, Mary C., Rhoda Viena (my grandmother), and R.L., Larkin's address when he applied for his Civil War pension was Gibbs, NC. He also married Mary Jane Mayfield and Mary M. Ollis. Larkin died in 1916 and is buried in the Obeth Methodist Church Cemetery. Larkin A.
