I am jumping into this too, although I am not real sure what I can add. My mother told me that there were two Thomas families in the Hopkins/Christian/Caldwell County areas of Kentucky. Daddy wasn't allowed to associate with one of them. I am not sure now which was which, they two divisions were referred to as Black Roof and Red Roof. I have not been able to find out anything about this and have been trying to do so for several years. I wonder if one was the German branch and the other the ones that hailed from Wales. I guess that is as good a guess as any until someone can explain it. Could the 'Black Dutch' be the German Thomas line? . Virginia in Seattle ---- Original Message ----- From: "Carolyn S.
