I am specifically interested in talking to anyone who is researching the Thomas name in Georgia - Lincoln Co., Wilkes Co., or maybe the part of South Carolina lying just above these two counties. My great grandfather was John L. Thomas, born in 1820 in Georgia, most likely in Lincoln Co. He married Belinda Frances Moreman in 1843 in Lincoln Co., GA and they were still there in 1850 as they appeared on the census then with three children, the youngest, Americus, being my grandmother, born in 1848. They moved to Tallapoosa Co., AL between 1850 and 1860. John was supposedly killed in the Civil War. I have not been able to find out who John's parents were or where they came from originally.
