In my search for Martin Thomas b circa 1829 in NC, m Eliza McLain abt 1844 (place unknow) it is difficult to trace the time and date of the migration of folks. This couple lived in Louisiana from 1850 until death. However it has been impossible to find a Thomas or McLain line for these folks. The question I have is are there no migrations records that indicate the movement of these people from the Penn., Va. area south and the routes taken on into the west. There has been no problem finding folks born from about 1820 to about 1900, however before that it is really hard to establish records of any type on folks that migrated south and west. There seem to be a route through Tenn>Mo>Ark>Tex and then from VA>NC>SC>GA>Al>MISS>LA>TEX. If anyone has any info on this or can give some method of research that may enlighten people looking for folks in these area I would be greatly appreciated. Searching for more and better records. Thanks. Meade Thomas
