I am searching for the parents of my gggrandfather James M. Thomas, b. 1818 in NC. I believe his father to be William Thomas, shown with wife Betsy (25 years his junior) in 1850 Coosa County, AL census. Mother is unknown, but James M. and brothers, Phillip (or Felix) and Alonzo (Elonzo) were all born in NC. My James M. Thomas was in Carroll County, MS by 1839 when he married Nancy Townsend, b. 1820 NC. These Thomases were Scotch-Irish, migrating, I believe in the mid 1700's. I'm hitting a brick wall to go back any further. Sound familiar to anyone? Ricki Prewitt
