My gr grandfather was Fred Thomas b. abt 1886. He married Mary "Lois" Martin in 1912 in Dearing, Montgomery County, Ks. His family lived in Waverly, Mo at the time. Fred and Lois had a daughter named Erma b. 1914. They seperated soon after. Fred was convicted of grand larceny and sent to the Kansas Sate Pen. in Lansing, Leavenworth Co. Ks. in 1917. They divorced while he was in prison. He was released in 1921. His father's name was Scott. He had two brothers, Harry and Oscar, and a sister named Mabel. The courthouse had no land records for Scott in Lafayette Co. Mo. for this time. They wouldn't search for death records unless I had a close estimate, they charge for searching a 5 year period. And I'm not even sure he died there. My grandmother never had contact with her fathers family after her parents divorced, and she was 3 yrs. old at the time. Can anyone help me with this family? I don't know where to start looking since the land records and death record search didn't work out. Any suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks! Lisa
