    1. THOMAS, Owen in VA>PA>NC?>KY, 1730-1808
    2. On Mar 2, a question was raised as to whether Owen THOMAS had ever lived in Penn. Knowing that I had a trip scheduled in May for a weeks research in the Salt Lake Library, I decided to "tackle" this problem. The following references refer to Owen THOMAS in Pennsylvania between 1780 and 1784. LDS film #0,863,548 Fayette Co., PA Deed Bk A-B 1784-1797 - Book A p.40-41 Owen THOMAS, of Springhill Tp., Fayette Co., PA, Yoeman, on 26 Feb 1780, bought 300 Acres from William HARDIN, being on a Branch of Georges Crk. called Miller Run in Springhill Tp., Fayette Co., PA., being part of Survey #3080 for William HARDIN dated 17 Apr 1769. On 20 May 1784, Owen THOMAS sold the 300 Acres to George GUNS of Antitum Settlement, MD for 145 pds. LDS film #0,861,081 Fayette Co., PA Index of Surveys and Warrants p.161 William HARDIN, Warrantee - Name of tract: "Rich Discovery", 311 1/2 Acres (Located in Cumberland Co., PA at time of survey) When I found the location of this land on the survey map, William HARDIN's survey is written as William HARVEY. But, it is still named "Rich Discovery" and is surrounded by many other HARDIN surveys. LDS 974.8 A1 #294 Listing of Inhabitants in 1783, Westmoreland Co., PA Comp. by Shirley G.
