Researching these families in Shelby Co., TN, North Carolina & Hanover James F. Thomas b. abt. 1834 NC, > was machinist for Memphis and Charleston Railroad. Lived in Shelby Co. TN (Memphis) beginning abt 1859 - married Caroline Vienna 28 October 1861. Was Private in 16th Tennessee Cavalry, Civil War, 1862-1864, died 25 Feb 1876. Caroline died in the 1878 Yellow Fever Epidemic. Two children who lived - my g grandmother, Carrie Mae Thomas b. Sept. 1866 and William F., b. 24 April 1869.
