Hello! At the top of my most-wanted-ancestor list are the parents of Matilda THOMAS (b. 11 Aug 1828 in Shelby Co., KY; d. 31 May 1908 in Mercer Co., KY). She was married to James Henry STAGG on 6 Oct 1846 in Mercer Co., KY. She apparently lived in Graves Co., KY, before her marriage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The fact that her grandchildren knew almost nothing about her background and that I haven't been able to find any record of her before her marriage makes me suspect that perhaps she was illegitimate.
