THOMAS, Issac Samuel. Christened 16 October 1859/60? North Dalton, England. Son of William Thomas and Jane Woodhill. Emigrated to New Zealand arriving 5 September 1863 on "The Captain Cook" at Lyttleton. Married Annie Shaskey - one of two sisters. The other sister married Issac's brother William. Annie died and was buried in Pongaroa after having two children: Samuel Thomas and Totsey Thomas. Isaac's oldest son Samuel went to war with his good friend George Stewart. They were both killed and Isaac ended up marrying George's widow May Wilcox. May was 35 years younger than Isaac and already had three children of her own from her marriage to George: Ruby Stewart, Doris Stewart and Don Stewart. However, they were also able to start a sizable family of 5 children of their own. Issac and May spent 21 years together and May lived 32 years after his death. Issac died 27 May 1940 at Pongaroa in New Zealand. I am told that he had a moustache to cover a big top lip. Seeking further information or contact with relatives. Louise Dixon MandLDixon@bigpond.com
