Still looking for ANY info on ANY adoption that took place around 1880-84 My gggrandmother Gracie THOMAS was put up for adoption in TARRANT,CO.TX in 1884 at the age of 4 by her mother Mrs.Annie THOMAS but the adoption records make no mention of biological father just adoptive parents Dick and Nancy Matthews AKA David S. McHERD and Nannie SHAWVER. There were also siblings given away but I know nothing about their names or new families. Gracie was born after the 1880 census so there is no connecting her to a family there. Gracie said she was part Indian but did not say what tribe. I found a death certificate of an 1884 death of an Annie THOMAS buried in the city cem.of Fort Worth TX, I do not know if this is her. Death cert. said she was from MO. Thank you, Brigitte
