My gggrandfather, Sylvester Thomas of Starrucca PA, wrote that his brother John Thomas, a Civil War vet, died in Kansas. We know that their sister, Margaret Thomas Carr (wife of Joseph Carr), moved with her family to Brown County KS and her family is well documented there. I have never, however, been able to find a trace of John. The National Archives cannot do a search because of the vast number of John Thomases in their files and at the present time I can't get there to do it myself. These Thomas siblings (Margaret, John, Ira, Aaron, Sylvester and Mary) were all born in Deerpark, Orange County NY. They were the children of William G. Thomas and Sarah (Sally) Covert. Ira was killed in the war, and I have been unable to trace Aaron and Mary. Sylvester said that his family had been prominent in Sullivan County NY, which is right next door to Deerpark. Is there anyone in New York or Kansas who has any clues? Ann O'Hara
