That's a pretty general statement. There are probably 5000 of them. The one I'm interested in moved from Virginia to Ohio "while the Indians were still plentiful on Paint Creek." He was married to Nancy Putman who died early in life leaving him 6 children. Four years later he was married again, but she drowned about one year later while trying to save one of his children. Some years later he was married again and by this marriage he had 6 more children, making 13 in all. Must have had one by the middle wife. I think three of his children were William, born 1809, and married Julia DeWitt in Ohio on October 18, 1830; Norris, birth date unknown, married Polly Barker on July 6, 1825; and Elizabeth Thomas, birth date unknown, married Hiram Barker on May 5, 1825. William, Norris, and Hiram brought their families to Brown County, Illinois in the early 1830's. If this strikes a familiar note with anyone, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for anything you might be able to add to this. I can take them forward, but need more info on additional siblings for William, Norris, and Elizabeth, and history of John and Nancy, the parents. Gladys Eichelberger geichel@adams.net
