In reviewing the 1880 Mahaska County IA census records, I saw MANY Thomas surnames. Many were from Wales. Unfortunately, my time was limited and I didn't have my laptop or I would have entered the names and sent them on. The Census is #1254354 at the Family History Center and has a great deal of information about the households, it has the relationship of each person to the head of the house, their place of birth, the mother and father's place of birth, their employment, if they had been unemployed in the last 6 months, if they suffered from any debilitating disease, and schooling.
