THOMAS, George. Born 23 April 1875 Akaroa, New Zealand. Baptized 12 January 1876 Akaroa. Son of William Thomas and Jane Woodhill. George left his home in Akaroa and moved to the North Island to Pahiatua with his brother Isaac. He is a mystery because the stories say he got into a fight one night and thought he had killed someone so he ran away and was never heard of again. For some reason it was thought that he got a fake passport and went to America and there was also talk of someone in New Zealand seeing him at Huntly.
