Is anyone researching the family of Evan Lewis Thomas, b. in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales on , Jan. 23,1868? He came from a large family that migrated to Wilkes-Barre PA in the 1880's. Evan, who is my grandfather, was Justice of the Peace in Barnesboro PA for 40 years. He was married to Elizabeth Ellen Ashurst, b. Wigan, Manchester, England in 1871. I have been "stuck" for several years now in getting past Evan's parents in my family research. He had so many brothers and sisters, I am hoping that some of their descendants might read this and help me get "un-stuck." Evan's parents were David Thomas and Ann Lewis. When Evan, the fifth born child, came along, David was a coal miner and they lived at 37 Cum Rhyd y Bedd in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales. Evan, and I'm assuming his brother and sisters, were naturalized in Wilkes-Barre PA in the 1880's. But, finding a David Thomas and an Ann Lewis, since those names are so common, has been a challenge.
