I would like to contact the person who has a family tree on Ancestry. It listed as the Shupe/Thomas family tree. The person listed is Jesse W. Wallace. Born 1826 in Hancock County, Georgia. It’ a private tree and no one has answered my query. Sure would like to connect with the person who put it on the web. Jesse is my gg grandfather and my brick wall. Thanks, Janet JBird411@earthlink.net

Cynthia, Your maternal Thomas line is of great interest to me. My great great grandfather was also Riley Thomas. Riley's family came from the Carolinas into Georgia. He was in Upson County, Georgia, on the 1830 census. There was a Spencer Thomas listed on the Tax List for Upson County, Georgia, in 1825, but was not there when the 1830 census was taken. I know my Riley's family family was there, at least, by 1826, because his brother John Thomas was married in Upson County, Georgia, in 1826. I have tried for TOO many years to connect this Spencer Thomas to my Thomas lineage. To date ... unsuccessfully. Cynthia, have either your maternal or paternal Thomas lines been DNA tested with the THOMAS DNA Project? If they have not, do you have a direct male Thomas descendant that would agree to being a DNA donor for the THOMAS DNA Project? I propose to pay for the test if you have a Thomas donor. I would love to locate information on a Nancy Thomas, daughter of a Nathaniel Thomas of Franklin, Virginia. She married David Goode, of the Goode family of Franklin. They migrated to what is now Wyoming County, WV, in the first half of the 1800's. Their daughter Anne Goode married Greenberry Buchanan. Their daughter Juda Catherine married Charles Smith Tilley. They were my great grandparents. As I often do not have the opportunity to read through all of the posts on the Thomas site, I would appreciate it if any response could be copied to my email address. _CaTeachSC@aol.com_ (mailto:CaTeachSC@aol.com) ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

Clifford, I did see all of those posts but haven't answered any of them. They all look like they might fit into our THOMASES somehow, but I can't figure out how. It is like a whole slew of Thomases took off from South Carolina and wound up in different parts of Georgia and Alabama. These posts are one of the big reasons I continue to think our THOMASES stopped in Georgia on their way to Alabama, Mississippi, and finally Texas. There's a bunch of towns, communities, and burgs enroute named Thomasville, Thomaston, Thomas Crossroads, Thomas and many more. I tend to think that there were many Thomas clans that traveled the same migration pattern and who occupied many abandoned THOMAS farms along the way. I feel like they all knew each other or about each other and kept passing the land along until they all reached their eventual destinations. I have been studying the ways of the Scottish emigrants of North Carolina. The above description is very indicative of their clannish behavior. I believe that our Thomas line is Scotch. I even see some scottish ways in our own immediate Thomas line, still today. In reference to your question, "Have I e-mailed them?".......the answer is "no". I don't really know what to ask them or exactly where to go with the proper questioning. I'd love for you to take the lead if you'd like. So far, I haven't seen anything but names and guesses about any relationship. But then, that's all I have to offer them in return. Maybe you can strike up a topic that would take us somewhere. By the way, I think that the Jordans & Godwins that always travelled with our Thomases were Scottish too. Let me know what you might learn from these posters. Thanks! Gents, I have enjoyed following this line of discussion. My results on the Thomas DNA website suggest that my ancestor, Benjamin S. Thomas is probably related in some way to John Thomas and/or William R. Thomas. I'm not sure of what I can offer to the discussion other than an enthusiastic pat on the back, as the only information I have on Benjamin S. Thomas is that he seems to have been born in TN, and that he lived most of his life in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi (<1850-1880). I do find it curious that the members of John Thomas' line end up in Mississippi (albeit Southern MS, whereas my Thomases were in East Central MS)I do have circumstancial evidence that suggests that Ben Thomas' line came from NC. Perhaps we could compare other notes and see if any common denominators arise. Believe me when say I tried like crazy to make a connection with that clan. No documentation r proof surfaced to make the connection. Then the DNA testing came along and hat was the death song. We simply do not match. DNA testing works, both ways. The good news is our John Thomas Sr is related to a William Riley Thomas b. 803 NC and d. 7-13-1879 in Meriwether County, Ga. Not sure how the line comes ogether but the DNA matches up pretty good. I believe William would have been nephew to our John. I am not a DNA expert but thats my story today and I am ticking with it UFN. If anyone out there has any info on a William Riley I ould be interested in that also. est Regards, lifford Thomas S: I guess I should mention Ken Hughey requested I reply concening the DNA part f your posting. Thanks again. ----- Original Message ----- rom: N T Brown <ntbrown@comcast.net> ate: Sunday, August 12, 2007 21:58 ubject: Re: [THOMAS] John Thomas, Sr. & Sarah ?? of Old Darlington District o: thomas@rootsweb.com > This is a very remote possibility, but if you haven't already done so, you might look at the Stephen Thomas line that came out of Anson County,NC. This Stephen Thomas is part of the Thomas line from Talbot County, MD. Some of Stephen's adult children lived in Marlboro District, SC. Some of Stephen's bunch migrated to Alabama in the late 1820s. There are at least two male Thomas descendants of Stephen who are participantsin the Thomas Surname DNA Project with FamilyTree. Also, you might try jumping back at least one generation before Stephen to see if there are any leads there. You will find info on these lines on RootsWeb.com and Ancestry.com among other places. I am a descendant of Stephen's through his son Tristram and Tristram's son Robert and Robert's son, Daniel, who moved to Alabama in the late 1820s.
