    3. I have transcribed all the Thomases that were buried in Lee County from the book, _Lee County, Mississippi Cemetery Records, 1820-1979_, Compiled by the Northeast Mississippi Historical Society, copyright 1981. This was a great book that I found in the Seattle Library. It is organized by cemeteries and gives a location, description and often a photo of each cemetery. I have 65 inscriptions and I will be glad to check for any Thomas you may be looking for that might be buried in Lee County. I must add that there is one cemetery (Sherman Cemetery) included that is Pontotoc County because so many Lee County residents are buried there. This was where I found my relative's information! I'd like to request any information anyone might have on: Lester B. THOMAS, b.7/15/1887 Mary J. THOMAS, 3/25/1900-9/18/1950 W.R. 1. Thomas Family
    2. Francis C. Gill
    3. I am researching the THOMAS family of Smith/Jackson Counties in Tennessee. Three brothers, Hiram, Humphrey and Lewis THOMAS lived in these counties from about 1809 until 1845. Hiram and Lewis went to Hamilton County, Ill. around 1830. Humphrey remained in that area of Tennessee until at least 1845. The 1850 Census of Illinois says Lewis Thomas was born in Virginia about 1792. The other two boys were born about 1785 and 1787. Lewis Thomas married Delilah White. Any clues on the parents or origin or families of these three boys, especially, Humphrey, would be appreciated. Francis C. Gill

The very first message I read after subscribing to this list >may turn out to be in regards to the very person/reason we signed up for to >query about! > >-- Cheryl Thomas > > Cheryl, According to information from the LDS Family History Center (take that for what it is worth---a starting point) This Jesse Thomas is the son of Job Thomas and Elizabeth Hoggett of VA. According to the records on file there, Job was born in VA. Another cousin that I'm in contact with has the place of birth for Job as Lancaster Co. Pa. The majority of Jesse's children and widow moved to middle TN in the Williamson/ Maury Co area. My ggggreat-grandfather, Job Howell Thomas, mentioned in the will raised his family in the Columbia TN area as did Finch Scruggs and Portia and Mary Polly Thomas both of whom married Pillow boys. Jesse Wood Thomas moved to the Nashville area in 1804 and relocated to east TN. According to the will, John, Anthony, and Nathaniel were all minors at the time of the execution of the will and would have presumably moved with their mother to Williamson Co. TN. From there John might very well have moved on to Ohio, however, one thing that I have noticed about this particular line of Thomases is that they tend to be rather clannish. This attitude about family probably stemmed from their roots in Wales. I've learned not to get too excited over what I find without at least a couple of sources, but every little snippit of information that I find drives me to find more. I've been looking for another source for Job Howell Thomas' parentage for almost two years and everything in the LDS records match the children listed here except for the birth dates and marriage order. I have several Thomas links on my web page that you might want to check out. Good Luck and good hunting!
