    1. JAMES THOMAS, SW GA, 1850??
    2. Looking for info on "Big Jim" James THOMAS, info below. Either his mother or his wife was Katie MORGAN. Since most of his children were born about 1884, I would assume that he was b. around 1850. They moved around between Colquitt, Mitchell, and Decatur County, GA. This is my mother-in-law's line, and she believes that her grandfather may have been an immigrant. Any clues appreciated. Zou Feagin zfeagin@aol.com

    1. Most Wanted - Enos Thomas Sr.
    2. Candace M. Wagner
    3. I have been searching for prooof of the parentage and spouse of Enos Thomas, b. abt. 1756 in Fayette or Washington Co., PA since I began my genealogy addiction. It is like chasing the proverbial smoke. I have seen many places where he is said to be the son of Owen Thomas and Mary Polly Hardin Thomas, but only see it as second hand info, can never find the true source of the parentage. He was supposedly the father of Enos Thomas, Joseph Burgess Thomas, and possibly a Hardin Thomas and a Henry Thomas. Children born around 1800-1803. Enos shows up in the Grayson County Ky census for several decades, then disappears. May have gone to Indiana. Spouse may have been Mary Kingston, m. 12-12-1789 in Nelson Co., Ky. I have suspected that Enos may be the middle name, as the family commonly switched to their middle names. So I may be looking for a __________ Enos Thomas. Anyone with any info at all, please write. Candy

    1. Most Wanted: Matilda THOMAS (1828-1908)
    2. Anne Meadows
    3. Hello! At the top of my most-wanted-ancestor list are the parents of Matilda THOMAS (b. 11 Aug 1828 in Shelby Co., KY; d. 31 May 1908 in Mercer Co., KY). She was married to James Henry STAGG on 6 Oct 1846 in Mercer Co., KY. She apparently lived in Graves Co., KY, before her marriage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The fact that her grandchildren knew almost nothing about her background and that I haven't been able to find any record of her before her marriage makes me suspect that perhaps she was illegitimate. Does that ring a bell with anyone? Cheers, Anne Meadows danne@compuserve.com

    3. Hi Richard, I am not able to help you with your Enid THOMAS, however, I subscribe to THE FORREST DIGEST and the editor of that online newsletter posted the following URL: http://204.170.102.11/cgi-bin/accessible/verify.pl (Accessible Archives Search) She stated, "If you have any connections to Pennsylvania, this is a fantastic site. You can search newspaper text with a surname. I've found several answers to my loose end ancestors......." I did give this site a try, and found many of my own surnames. I thought you and others might find this an interesting and worthwhile web site to visit. Good luck, LaDoris eva@cvtv.net =================================== At 09:25 PM 10/25/98 -0500, RICHARD wrote:> >OK, here is my most wanted THOMAS: > > Name: Enid THOMAS Sex: M > Birth: Abt 1812 Place: ,,PA > Marr: Spouse: Elizabeth \\ > Death: Unknown > Burial: Place: ,,IN > >They had two children: >snip>> > >Richard Thomas rthomas@op.net <<

    3. Hi THOMAS researchers looking in PA, Are you near a Family History Center? I found a film there that is titled the Genealogical Surname Index at Harrisburg PA Library. The microfilm number is: 1205186. What I found were 110 THOMAS family genealogy books in that library's card catalog. By looking at family names who intermarried with my THOMAS's I think I found a book that will have my family in it. I'm nowhere near Harrisburg, but I think I can get this book through inter liberary loan. Possibly this research method will be helpful to you. This film came recommended by a professional genealogist. Jan <chuckles@iserv.net>
