1. Most wanted THOMAS
2. Here is a rundown on my Thomas: I am searching for them between 1850 and 1875, and of course before 1850. As you can see I know where John Durham Thomas was in 1875, but not his fathers family. I lucked out in the 1850, because of Georgie Durham. There were a lot of Thomas's in Chester County, MD, there are also a lot of Thomas's in Harford County, MD. I also found in the 1860 census a lot of John Thomas's married a Sarah, and had a son born in 1852 named John. This was mind boggling. But I am sure Georgie did not live with his sister in 1860, nor did I find a daughter named Hannah. Parents of John Durham Thomas. All born in Chester County, PA. I was checking the 1850 census and found in West Caln, Chester County, PA: John Thomas 30 (b) 1820 PA (father) Sarah D. 20 (b) 1830 PA (mother) Hannah 4/12 1850 PA Georgie Durham 11 (b) 1839 PA I could not find them in the 1860 census. I am sure that they had several children in the 10 years till the next census. I just have to find it. I do not know of any other siblings at this time, only two, Hannah as shown on the 1850 PA census for West Caln, the other possibly known is Dylan Thomas brother of John Durham Thomas (not sure). My Great Grandfather is John Durham Thomas (b) 2 FEB 1852 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Married Sarah Margaret Spies (b) 25 DEC 1852 in Jarrettsville. They married in Jarrettsville, MD, on 22 Aug 1875. They had 11 Children, all born in Maryland: John William Thomas (b) 31 MAY 1876 married Martha ? Mina Margaret Thomas (b) 20 MAR 1878 married Albert Schafer Sammy Frederick Thomas (b) 3 APR 1880 married Ruth Linton Mary Frances Thomas (b) 3 APR 1880 died 3 days later Martin Spies Thomas (b) 12 MAR 1882 married Ann Kelly Blakley Katie Henrietta Thomas (b) 15 SEP 1884 married Henry Korte Clarence Ellias Thomas (b) 6 FEB 1887 married Carolyn Lela Perry Eadith Jane Thomas (b) 10 JUL 1889 married William Penn Albert Norman Thomas (b) 16 OCT 1891 married Frances Meisner sister of Josephine Lewis Henry Thomas (b) 1 JAN 1894 married Josephine Meisner my grandmother Bertha Ester Thomas (b) 13 SEP 1896 married Russell Breneman I have 95% if the descendants of the above children, if you can be of any help it would be greatly appreciated. I also found the marriage of John Thomas and Sarah Derham at this wonderful PA site. http://204.170.102.11/cgi-bin/accessible/verify.pl So here is a little genealogy humor Genealogy is my pastime, I shall not stray; It maketh me to lie down and examine half-buried tombstones, It leadeth me into still court houses; It restoreth my ancestral knowledge. It leadeth me in paths of census records and ship's passenger lists for my surname's sake. Yea, though I walk through the shadows of research libraries and microfilm readers, I shall fear no discouragement, For a strong urge is within me; The curiosity and motivation they comforteth me. It demandeth preparation of storage space for the acquisition of countless documents; It anoints my head with burning midnight oil, My family group sheets runneth over. Surely, birth, marriage and death dates shall follow me all the days of my life; and, I shall dwell in the house of a family history seeker forever. Sincerely Searching, Carol Chiveral

Thomas born from 1819 to 1836.Can we find Nicholas Thomas' parents? They may or may not have been Quakers. I am beginning to think not. Thanks again!

3. To all of you who have requested and gotten an answer from me on your Union heroes: If I found your ancestor I attached a Word file with photographic copies of the original Roll of Honor pages. They may or may not be readable when you get it. They are a really nice add to your file, as they are the original source documents for the soldiers rank, company, regiment, date of death and burial spot. They were written in 1866 by the Secretery of War's office, and have a nice preface and description, along with some neat words about the "Rebellion". If you find you can't read it, and you want it, I will fax it to you if you have a fax available, or US Mail if you send your address. Your response has been overwhelming, I am glad to help so many, as so many have helped me in the past. Candy

2. Hello, I am researching three brothers David Thomas, Richard Thomas, Ananias (Annanias) Thomas who left SC in the 1830s and settled in Blount county, Alabama. I think these three brothers are children of the David Thomas and Mary Pressley that left Anson NC and settled in York or Chester SC. They used all the same names such as David, Pressley, Richard, William, Ananias. They also used the name Neeley such as David Neeley so it is possible that one of their wifes was a Neeley. Does anyone have any information on these three brothers or the David and Mary Pressley Thomas that might help connect them. Joan JBenn40216@aol.com

1. Tomas from Dlhé nad Cirochou, Slovakia
2. Frank Robert Plichta
3. I am new to the Thomas List and although I subscribed in Digest form, I have not seen any messages in two weeks. Perhaps the list is not very active. I would like to post my information and seek assistance. I have traced my maternal grandfather to Georgius Tomass, b. about 1790, m. 3 Jun 1810, in Cyrocké Dlhé, to Maria Chaschcs Kapko, b. about 1793. They had at least three children that were born in Cyrocké Dlhé: Martinus, b. 14 Nov 1812 Emericus, b. 2 Nov 1813 (I am descended from Emericus) Maria, b. 2 Jul 1815 Descendants of the family remain in Dlhé to the present day. I have visited the family there in 1984 and in 1996. The community is known today as, Dlhé nad Cirochou, okres Humenné, kraj Východoslovenský, Republic of Slovakia. In earlier times the community was know by the following names: 1342--Huzywmezew; 1773--Cziroky Dluchy, 1808-- Cyrocké Dlhé, 1927--Dlhé nad Cirochou (Hungarian name Czirokahosszúmezo^). The name of the town means Dlhé on the Cirochou river. The town has about 2,000 residents today and has always had a population between 1,300 and 1,900 since the year 1869. The original "Tomass" became "Tomas" in later generations and was changed to "Thomas" after coming to the United States. My maternal grandfather was Jan Tomas, aka John Thomas, born 14 Apr 1891 in Dlhé which was part of Austria-Hungary at that time. I do not know the exact date that he came to America but he was married to Maria Elizabeth Lelko on 20 Oct 1913 in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, a small community north of Bethlehem and Allentown. Maria was also from Dlhé. They moved to Pittsburgh sometime before 1923 because that is the year that John's Certificate of Naturalization was issued in Pittsburgh. I have traced the descendents of Emericus to the present day and I am looking for the descendents of Martinus and Maria. I am willing to share information about the family in exchange for Martinus and Maria information. If you have any information about any Tomas from Dlhé I would like to hear from you. I have information about later generations if the information is needed to establish a connection. Frank R. Plichta plichta@worldnet.att.net -or- plichta@att.net P.O.
