    1. THOMAS-NH
    2. Hi folks, Thought I would repost my missing THOMAS ancestor. I am searching for any information about Theodore THOMAS. I don't have very much to go on at this point. However, here is what I do know. Theodore THOMAS b.1855 in unknown location d. 1917 in unknown location buried in Westmorland Depot, NH resided in Keene, NH He married Rose Etta BROWN, date and location unknown. Rose's parents were Andrew and Agnes BROWN of Fall River, MA. Rose had been married before (to a man named SHEPARDSON and she had a least on daughter from that marriage), and she also went on to marry a third time (to a Burt BROWN). Theodore and Rose Etta had a daughter Mildred Dorothy THOMAS (my grandmother). She was born on 21 May 1902 in Westminster, Vermont. Mildred Dorothy Thomas and her mother Rose Etta came to live in St. Lawrence County, NY, where my grandmother went to high school. To my knowledge Theodore never came to New York with Mildred and her mother. Mildred then married John Raymond LAWRENCE on 19 May 1920. John Raymond LAWRENCE was the son of John LAWRENCE and Lydia Mae PARO. While this still is very little to go on, I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have heard of this family. Sometimes even ruling out what is not possible can be helpful. Thanks for listening, Lisa At 10:32 AM 11/7/98 -0500, you wrote: >Here are my Thomas's: >James Thomas abt. 1650 m.abt. 1670 Martha Goddard Dover, NH > Anne m. James Bunker > Benjamin m. You sent the command "help". 2. You sent a message to ROOTs-L@rootsweb.com that you intended to have posted to ROOTS-L, but left the subject line blank. Sometimes when that happens, the software sends you this message rather than posting yours. Just resend your message to ROOTs-L@rootsweb.com, but be sure to fill out the subject line so people know what you're writing about. And so you don't confuse this robot. ;-) 3. You sent a message to ROOTS-L-request@rootsweb.com that didn't look like a message for a human but that could not be processed as a computer command. The most common reasons this happens are: - there is something in the message in addition to the command, for instance a signature file or a thank you. Please don't include anything besides the command, or (if this isn't possible because you don't know how to send a message without your signature being automatically appended) =immediately= =after= your last command, include a line that begins with two dashes (not underscores) and has no other characters. The mail server will sometimes ignore everything that follows such a line, and if it does so for you, you're set. - the command was mistyped or spelled incorrectly: unsubscribe is right, unscribe is wrong, unsuscribe is wrong, etc. A copy of your message is appended at the bottom of this message, for your review. If you can't see what's wrong, you may want to send a copy to the ROOTS-L Help Line at afn12915@afn.org and the person there may be able to help you identify the problem. If you're unsuccessfully trying to subscribe or unsubscribe, you can send a note to rootserr@rootsweb.com and the person on ROOTS-L Error Patrol duty will subscribe or unsubscribe you when he or she next logs in. Some of the following may apply: General info ------------ Subcription/unsubscription/info requests should always be sent to the -request address of a mailinglist. If a mailinglist for example is called "thelist@some.domain", then the -request address can be inferred from this to be: "thelist-request@some.domain". To subscribe to a mailinglist, simply send a message with the word "subscribe" in the body of a message to the -request address of that list. As in: To: thelist-request@some.domain Subject: subscribe To unsubscribe from a mailinglist, simply send a message with the word (you guessed it :-) "unsubscribe" in the body of a message to the -request address of that list. As in: To: thelist-request@some.domain Subject: unsubscribe IMPORTANT DETAIL: signatures confuse SmartList. If you can, send the commands with *NO* signature following the body of the message. In the event of an address change, it would probably be the wisest to first send an unsubscribe for the old address (this can be done from the new address), and then a new subscribe to the new address (the order is important). Most (un)subscription requests are processed automatically without human intervention. Do not send multiple (un)subscription or info requests in one mail. Only one will be processed per mail. NOTE: The -request server usually does quite a good job in discriminating between (un)subscribe requests and messages intended for the maintainer. If you'd like to make sure a human reads your message, make it look like a reply (i.e. the first word in the Subject: field should be "Re:", without the quotes of course); the -request server does not react to replies. The archive server ------------------ Every submission sent to this list is archived. The size of the archive depends on the limits set by the list maintainer (it is very well possible that only, say, the last two mails sent to the list are still archived, the rest might have expired). You can look at the header of every mail coming from this list to see under what name it has been archived. The X-Mailing-List: field contains the mailaddress of the list and the file in which this submission was archived. If you want to access this archive, you have to send mails to the -request address with the word "archive" as the first word of your Subject:. To get you started try sending a mail to the -request address with the following line in the body of the message: archive help Again, remember not to attach a signature after the "archive help" command. -- >From KThCthom@aol.com Sat Nov 7 09:33:18 1998 Received: from bl-3.rootsweb.com (bl-3.rootsweb.com [204.212.38.19]) by bl-30.rootsweb.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id JAA15556 for <ROOTS-L-request@bl-30.rootsweb.com>; Sat, 7 Nov 1998 09:33:17 -0800 (PST) From: KThCthom@aol.com Received: from imo23.mx.aol.com (imo23.mx.aol.com [198.81.17.67]) by bl-3.rootsweb.com (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with ESMTP id JAA24943 for <ROOTS-L-request@rootsweb.com>; Sat, 7 Nov 1998 09:29:45 -0800 (PST) Received: from KThCthom@aol.com by imo23.mx.aol.com (IMOv16.10) id QZSQa02328 for <ROOTS-L-request@rootsweb.com>; Sat, 7 Nov 1998 12:32:31 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <62ebbe44.3644842f@aol.com> Date: Sat, 7 Nov 1998 12:32:31 EST To: ROOTS-L-request@rootsweb.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Subject: Most wanted Thomas Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 214 My most wanted Thomas is LEONARD THOMAS b. in Maryland 1700's he then moved to Va. was married to Elizabeth. 3. Halbert and others in Bath, Ohio have been publishing "World Books of Surnames" for years. They are little more than a listing of most individuals with the same surname taken from telephone directories, frequently OUT OF DATE directories. There are some general pages about genealogy but the information is not related to the surname. You are better off saving your money and searching one of the directory sites on the web for more current information. 3. "The New World of ____" are not the only ones out there trying to cash in on genealogists. There is another group that market there's as "Centuries of ____" Many years ago I spent $29.95 (on sale) and was very disappointed to recieve partial census reports, marriage lists, telephone book entries and only three names one the WWII military service--it was a big rip off! It marketed as line 300 years of descendents and turned out to be about an hours worth of libaray work. You're smart to check it out before you buy. 3. Ann, I have a Maynard Thomas, b. 1823 in NY. He may have been the son of Even or Eben Thomas. He married Mary Perry in Calhoun Co., Mich. in 1848 and had four children. Before 1867 they moved to Ottawa, Franklin Co., KS. Maynard and his wife died there in 1900. Mary Perry's family also moved to Mich. from NY -- they came from Cortland Co., NY. The Thomas family may have also been from that area. I don't see any match, of course, other than another Thomas family that went from NY to KS (eventually). I don't know where Deerpark, NY is so I don't know if that is close to Cortland Co. or not.
