    1. Elizabeth THOMAS, dau. of Griffith THOMAS from Aberdaron
    2. Pamela Anderson
    3. I am interested in information about the family of Elizabeth THOMAS who married William PRITCHARD 25 October 1788 in Aberdaron. Elizabeth was baptized 30 November 1766 in Aberdaron and was the daughter of Griffith and Margaret Thomas. Elizabeth is a 4th great-grandmother. Who was her mother Margaret? Who were her parenst and when was Margaret born. I suspect that Griffith Thomas was the son of John Thomas and Janet his wife and was baptized 30 April 1738 in Aberdaron. Thanks for any help. Pam Anderson

    1. Updated Genealogy Website!!
    2. Hi All, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have updated my website, Famiyl Reunion, located at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/3380 My site has the research I have done, thus far, on the JAY, JORDAN, HILL, THOMAS, and WEBSTER surnames. I've also opened up an online bookstore (in association with Amazon.com) offering titles in African American genealogy, general genealogy, soul food recipes, and resources on various U.S. areas. There's also a search engine just in case you are not able to find a particular book on my site. So, stop by, look around, and tell a friend! :-) Donna Web Manager - Family Reunion http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/3380 email: DNYCE15@aol.com

    1. James M. Thomas
    2. Ricki Prewitt
    3. I am searching for the parents of my gggrandfather James M. Thomas, b. 1818 in NC. I believe his father to be William Thomas, shown with wife Betsy (25 years his junior) in 1850 Coosa County, AL census. Mother is unknown, but James M. and brothers, Phillip (or Felix) and Alonzo (Elonzo) were all born in NC. My James M. Thomas was in Carroll County, MS by 1839 when he married Nancy Townsend, b. 1820 NC. These Thomases were Scotch-Irish, migrating, I believe in the mid 1700's. I'm hitting a brick wall to go back any further. Sound familiar to anyone? Ricki Prewitt

    1. Hiram Thomas 1819-1907 NY
    2. I have a Hiram Thomas that I need to prove who his parents were. I think they were Silvanus and Elizabeth(Betsey) Pierce Thomas who lived in Pulteney, Steuben Co., NY. after moving from Middleboro, Ma. Silvanus and Elizabeth had children Moses, Silvanus, Abial, Nathan, Betsy married Ansel Pelton, Susanna married George Wallis, Abigail, David, Amos and Ebenezer. Moses lived and died 1864 Pulteney, NY Ebenezer lived in Rodman, Jefferson Co. in 1850 Abiel lived in Troupsburg, Steuben Co. in 1850, 1860 Silvanus lived in Woodhall, Steuben Co, in 1850 That is as far as I have got tracking down these children. Hiram and his wife Hannah had children George W., Lucinda married Wm. Owen, Deborah A. married a Decker, Lydia, Charles, Lewis, Albert, and Sylvenus. They lived in Catherine, Schuyler Co, NY. My big hope is to find a obit for one of Silvanus's children that would mention that they were survived by brother Hiram. Hiram death certificate says parents unknown. Does anyone have any info at all on these families? Thanks for any help. Sherry Nichols Bookwoom13@aol.com

    2. Thanks for the resounding response. It's a close race between Family Tree Maker and programs from Parson's Tech. Will check them out and let you know what I decided. Many, many thanks. Would anyone have access to ship's passenger lists for the gulf coast around 1840? Shannon Thomas Simpkins

    3. Lauri Ashton wrote: Hi All, Here's the Copy and Paste method to get your Family Tree Maker information onto your email without have to do any typing.... it sounds more complicated than it is. 1. Start your email reply/response 2. Open your Family Tree Maker (FTM) 3. open a word processing software (notepad, MSWORD, WordPerfect or similar). 4. In FTM Select the head of the family that you want to give the information on -- change your view to Genealogy Report, change your content for how many generations you want to include (ie: you might want only 2 generations instead of the entire family). Then in the edit file, use the "copy genealogy report". DO NOT include endnotes in your report options--it makes a mess of the years and other information as the little numbers get changed to big numbers. 5. Go to your word processing software and PASTE, do any editing you want--getting rid of extra lines or adding comments--Then highlight the page and use the copy command, 6. go to your email repsone and PASTE. Once you know the routine it takes less than a minute to do the copy, paste, copy and paste! For some reason you can't copy directly from FTM to email but this is an easy work around. If you are unclear on any of this or have any trouble let me know. just on note on FTM-Here's a tip that might help you. I keep a file that I have my proven family in--all the cousins and aunts and uncles--everyone is linked! All my research is kept in seperate Family Tree Files--that way it doesn't get too messy and confusing. You can do Merge's from your CD's and it's safer to do these into your Research files than your "real family" file. I have research files on branches that include a multitude of surnames --keeps the movement visable from generations that migrated together. The instructions in help are pretty good, I suggest printing them out so you can follow step by step. Good luck. > Jodi Morrison wrote: > > > > I too have Family Tree Maker, but just getting started with it or getting familiar with it, could you tell me how to send gen. 3. I had already sent a reply to Connie but saw that there were a alot of folks interested in other peoples methods of keeping track of all the tons mail and information that comes with it. This is the method I use--it might work for someone else. The first thing I do is keep manila folders for each surname I am researching, each state/country that I might focus on, and other misc. folders (ie: Quakers, Mayflower). When I go through my email box there are three categories - 1. keep (information related to a surname - same area, possible leads, possible links) these get printed and put into the surname manila folder to be reviewed today, next week, or ? 2. toss - emails that have no connection or possible link I get rid of right away 3. respond to - these emails I keep in my in box until I respond to them. There are two types of responses--you are helping someone else with information or you hope someone can provide you with information. All of my gen work is on the Family Tree Maker so it's an easy Copy/paste to get information to someone else (if you don't know how send me a line)... Then I print the orignal w/the response and put it in my folder so I know who I have corresponded with. If I respond to an email and expect a response back, I keep the message in the inbox until I get the response--holding off on printing it until it's received. I am tree consious, but you can use recycled paper and be smart about what you really can use and what you should pass on. I am partial to leafing through a folder with 50 pages versus pulling up 50 different electric files trying to remember a email from last february. The best advantage... you have a hard copy in case your computer gets sick or you upgrade your browser and it wipes out your email folders (that happened to me--thankfully I already used the manila folder method and all I lost were my messages in the inbox)! I review my surname folders periodically and as I learn more about a family I find new links and leads! I also know who I corresponded with two years ago--maybe contacting them again to exchange new links/leads. Wish you the best of luck in your search for organization and sanity! Happy Hunting. Lauri http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/3029/ (my other surnames, Sorry I haven't found enough Thomas' to put them on my site, but you will find all my other surnames I've researched and some genealogy humor in the "Reflections" box)

    2. I have never found a decent replacement for my old long family sheets in a binder. I write everything on them. I don't know how to keep it straight without it. I need it just to be sure I have the right dates on people or that we are talking about the same person. They are better than any computer program I have seen and I have bought 5. I have a small file that I keep e- mail then if it works out it goes into the big file. Please don't ask my family if I am organized as I also have these piles of files I am working on. MT

    3. Hi Connie, I too have joined several lists. I average 30 letters per day on genealogy alone. I have created several folders to save the mail from these lists. I keep them for future reference. If I see something that does relate, I print a copy to put with my research notes. I also print the e-mail that I have to follow up on. As I write this note I thought of another way. That is to create a folder to save e-mail in that requires follow-up. Save the original letter in the appropriate list folder for future reference, but also save one in a follow-up folder. Make any notes on the e-mail for your reference. You can also save out-going mail to this same folder for follow-up. Once you have followed up, you then delete the letter from the follow-up folder. Thanks for the question -- it helped me too. BTW -- This came in on my Thomas line e-mail. I am looking for Thomas families that Moved from Kentucky (Larue County) to Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma (in the part of the states where they adjoin). What are you looking for? 2. I find that by printing out e-mails that I need to send a response helps. I keep them in a follow-up file until they are answered. I print on both sides to save paper (and trees). I draw a line through the e- mails I have answered and when I have answered all the e-mails on the page, I recycle the page (unless I have made notes for myself). Carol
