Help, anyone out there! I recently purchased the Family Tree Maker, Standard Version II. Each time I look up a name, it tells me where to go to buy a CD with the information I need on it. I have just started this search for my ancesters, and if I bought each one of these it would be very costly. Now my questions: Does anyone else have this software? Has anyone purchased the suggested CDs? Are they helpful? Thank you very much. janbates@aol.com
In reviewing the 1880 Mahaska County IA census records, I saw MANY Thomas surnames. Many were from Wales. Unfortunately, my time was limited and I didn't have my laptop or I would have entered the names and sent them on. The Census is #1254354 at the Family History Center and has a great deal of information about the households, it has the relationship of each person to the head of the house, their place of birth, the mother and father's place of birth, their employment, if they had been unemployed in the last 6 months, if they suffered from any debilitating disease, and schooling. Thought someone might be interested out there. Rebecca Thomas Seehusen Hoover, AL

Daer Cousins: I am new to the Thomas list. My family ties to to the Thomas family through Betsy Thomas who married Aaron Stallings 1815 in Christian Co. I believe Betsy to be the Daughter of Zadock Thomas who appears in Trigg County, Ky in the 1820's. In the 1820 census he lives next door to Aaron and Betsey Stallings. I believe Zadock is related to James Thomas the father of the Trigg Co. Ky Thomas Family. Does anyone have any info on this family? I show the family line as: 1. Am looking for information on any Thomas families in Georgia. My William Thomas was born about 1790 in Georgia. He later went to Alabama around 1840. He was a shoemaker, so maybe he learned the trade from his father. He married Lucretia ? in Georgia and is probably his second wife. Only children I have for him is William, Jr. and daughters Deborah Elizabeth and Matilda. William, Jr. was born in Georgia in 1827 and the girls in Alabama. Trying to find the siblings and parents of William, Sr. Linda
I am looking for any information on William Marion Thomas borned in Wayne County, Illinois in around 1877. His death gave birth in Illinois his parents were unknown. It was told that he was raised by his grandmother a full blooded Cherokee. If this is true I am uncertain. Anyone having any links to Thomas in Illinois would even be helpful. William Marion married Mary Belle McCoy later moved to Missouri then to Arkansas where he died. I would appreciate any and all help I could get with him. Thanking you in advance, Phyllis (Thomas) English email bluestar@cswnet.com
Hi Joy, Am sending to list because mail was returned (twice) from the address you used initially. My THOMASes may have been in Iowa about 1855-60. I'd guess north-eastern Iowa, just because they came from Wisconsin. I haven't really found them yet. Their status is that of a family legend, my mother's recpollection that there was a Matthew (Mathias). THOMAS is a very common name, so there could be different people with the same name in a single place. Remember too that famliies often re-used first names again and again. Hi Diana, My Thomas family is in Maine, but I'm not sure where Eden is. My Thomases are mostly from Farmington & Hallowell. Jedediah Thomas Joseph Warren Thomas Mike Snow
Hi Everyone, I'm so excited. I've been searching for the names of my husband greatgrandfather for a long time with no luck. I only had the greatgrandmother's name- Maria. A few days ago a was going though some papers my mother in law had given me, ( I've looked though them many times), I was reading a list of names she had written and found nothing new. So I folded the paper back up and started to put it down when I noticed something written on the back down in the corner. Lo and behold it was the Thomases I've been searching for. His name was HARVEY S. THOMAS and his wife's name was MARIAH MATILDA MOORE, and it also said his father came to the US in Stonington, CT, very close to where I grew up and where I live now! So with this information in hand I went to the LDS library and went through the 1860 census and the 1870 census in Stonington. No luck, so I looked in the IGI files both in CT and OH. Bingo- there was Harvey listed in Cuyahoga County. It listed his marriage to Maria on 1/18/1876. After my long explanation, my question is: How can I get a copy of the marriage record and how much will it cost? Will the record contain any information about their parents?Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to let the trail get cold. Finally, the lesson of the day, no matter how many times you've gone through those old papers, look again and don't forget to look at the back. You never know what jewel might be hiding there! Thanks for listening to me and Happy Hunting! Elayne Thomas tfun@snet.net Researching: BROWDER, GEOHRING, MICHEL, THOMAS
Is anyone on the list doing research on a Thomas line that resided in and around Eden, Maine in the early 1800's. If so I may have some information that will help you. Diana Bostic Hyde

Immigrant ancestor Enoch Thomas was b. in S. Wales 1808 and married Margaret--?, also from Wales. Enoch was coalminer in Wales; left for US and came to Gallia Co., OH where he was carpenter/farmer. Built Moriah Church in 1846, largest Welsh church in southern Ohio. I don't know how to make the next step to find Enoch's parents, place of birth in Wales,or date of immigration. Any help would be hugely appreciated!! Thanks. Dave Nungesser nungessr@beol.net
I just recieved a copy of my gg-grandfather's death certificate. His name was R.G. Thomas. Some documents say the R stands for Rice and others say Robert. His marriage record in Bland Co., Va says he was born in Wythe Co., Va. He died in Bland Co., Va. (DOB=3 August 1851, DOD=2 Feb. 1922.) I know he was married in Bland, and at one point lived in Princeton, WV. He was married to Susan Virginia Woodyard, daughter of Almarine Woodyard and Jane Thorn. I believe R.G. to have a brother, Charles. Charles was born in Bland in 1848, married to Nannie Thompson in Bland and he died 1915 in Bland. On both R.G. and Charles marriage records, their parents are listed as John and Katie Thomas. On R.G.'s death certificate his father is listed as John Thomas born in Mingo Co., WV and his mother is Katie Dillon born Pulaski Co., Va. By the way I figure it they had to have been born in the 1820's or earlier. This is the only info that has been found on John and Katie thus far. No marriage records, no census records, no birth records. My question is, Does any one out there know anything else about John or Katie? Beth
This is my second time to join the Thomas list. I think that my e-mail address here at work got changed and then I was not on the list anymore. This is what I know of my Thomas line: My grandmother was Susan(nah) Americus Melvina Thomas. She was born in 1848 (yes, 1848!) in Georgia, probably Lincoln Co., GA. Her parents were John L. (have heard it was for Leonard) Thomas and Belinda Frances Moreman. They were married in December of 1843 in Lincoln Co. Belinda might have been from Wilkes Co. as that is where I find most information on her parents. At that time, Lincoln Co. might have been a part of Wilkes Co., GA. I have not been able to get back any further than John L. Thomas. I have no idea who his parents were. They were still in Lincoln Co. in 1850. Between 1850 and 1860, they moved to Tallapoosa Co., Alabama where John was supposedly killed in the Civil War. The only reason I know that they were from Lincoln Co. is because someone wrote to me about the Moreman's. In an article about my grandmother when she died in 1944, it said that she used to talk about the "Plantation" she lived on and about her grandfather who was a minister. I'm pretty sure it must have been her father's father. Can anyone help me out here or give me any suggestions as to how I can find who John L.'s parents were, where they came from originally, etc. Thanks in advance. Hello, I'm new to the list and wanted to post my 2 THOMAS research interests. Direct lines: 1 David THOMAS, b. c1807, PA; d. 1860-70, Hempfield Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA ..+ Catharine ------ 2 Mary THOMAS ..+ Andrew S. FRY David seems to be the grandson of Garret THOMAS, an German immigrant who died in Westmoreland County, PA. *AND* 1 John THOMAS, b. prob. 1790s, England; d. Cornwall, England ..+ Rebecca BARKEL, m. 23 Dec 1815, St. Austell, Cornwall, England 2 Jane THOMAS, b. c1816, Tregonissey, St. Austell, C, E ..+ Joseph WERRY, m. 13 Oct 1838, St. Austell, C, E I'm still in the midst of doing parish research, and will hopefully turn up John's parents soon (barring difficulty from the commonality of his name). Can anyone out there help, or happen to have similar studies? Thanks, Lorin vent414@hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
