I am looking for any and all info related to the families of Bernard Krug THOMAS and Oliveretta (Olive) Marie DUFFY, m. Pittsburgh area ca 1911. Olive was purportedly only 13 at the time of the marriage; she divorced B.K. Thomas by 1915 (did PA ever have such a young marriage age allowance?), and was off to fame and fortune as a Ziegfeld Follies girl and later movie star as Olive Thomas. The couple may have resided near McKee's Rocks, PA for a time -- at least, Olive supposedly worked as a shopgirl there when she quit High School ... I'm gathering the info for background for a possible biography on Olive (or screenplay). Thanks in advance for help -- -- C. Thomas
This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------F2A2764A211BF984F15D4559 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Thought the Thomas families might be interested in the fact that on Feb. 7th, 1999, at a ceremony at the American Legion in Fostoria, Ohio, my great uncle, Albert J. Thomas was awarded the French Legion of Honor medal and a knighthood. He was one of the lucky ones who was not only totally aware of the ceremoney given to the remaining 300 or so veterans of WW1 who fought in France, but, in his interviews with the press and TV reporters remarked that he regretted that his comrads weren't all here, and that many deserved it more. Uncle Albert is able to get around very well, helps with the work at his daughter's home, keeps up on sports and hobbies, does the dishes every night, and goes to see his friends at the Legion hall. He will be 103 May 17th! He is the son of James Bradford and Eliza Ann Grant Thomas of Hancock Co., Ohio, the grandson of Samuel and Elizabeth Struble Thomas, and the great-grandson of James and Mary Ann Campbell Thomas, early pioneers here. They came from Balleyroney, County Down, Ireland, but early documents claim their parents were from other parts of the British Isles. Just thought the Thomas clan might want to know about one of oldest members of the clan, and possibly the only one to receive this award.
