    1. THOMAS, George
    2. MandLDixon
    3. THOMAS, George. Born 23 April 1875 Akaroa, New Zealand. Baptized 12 January 1876 Akaroa. Son of William Thomas and Jane Woodhill. George left his home in Akaroa and moved to the North Island to Pahiatua with his brother Isaac. He is a mystery because the stories say he got into a fight one night and thought he had killed someone so he ran away and was never heard of again. For some reason it was thought that he got a fake passport and went to America and there was also talk of someone in New Zealand seeing him at Huntly. Seeking further information or contact with relatives. Louise Dixon MandLDixon@bigpond.com

    1. Information genicide in Kosovo
    2. Jason & Diana Hyde
    3. I don't know how many of you are following the crisis in Kosovo, but I felt it necessary to make a point known. First of all, I am a military wife, so I can see both side of the coin. My husband is still at home, but I still carry the fear of him having to leave, as well as having many friends who are already there. We all think we have problems when we hid that "brick wall" in our research, but that wall is usually at least a couple of generations back. Those in Kosovo can't even prove who they are right now. Their identification papers, deeds and other identifying papers are being destroyed. I simply ask that we all take a moment to remember why our men and women are in southern Europe and other areas of the world. It has nothing to do with Clinton and his problems, but everything to do with allowing others to live as we do and research their families as we do. I hope that I haven't upset anyone by my post. I only know how I would feel if it were my husband that had been captured or my family that had been destroyed. I feel a great commonality to the reasons that we were involved in the two world wars and other major conflicts of the past. A moment of silence for those that have been captured and also for the Kosovo people that have had their families destroyed. Sincerely, Diana Bostic Hyde

    3. Hello All, The LDS Family Search Website is on-line for testing. It is from time to time taken off-line so that corrections can be made. The results of tampering are becoming a pain. The address that you must use for now is http://32.96.111.13/default.asp during the test period. When you get to the Website, take your time and explore. It will take some getting accustomed to. You will need to learn the layout as you would being in a strange town or city. 3. THOMAS, Samuel. (Known as Sonny) Born in New Zealand. Son of Isaac Samuel Thomas and Annie Shaskey. Died in World War One. He left New Zealand in 1918. His friend George was killed at Flanders. This is probably where Sam was killed also. Later a girl came from England saying she had married Sam there. Sam was dead so there was no one to dispute her. She became part of the family but there was always some doubt. Seeking further information Louise Dixon MandLdixon@bigpond.com

    1. Morris THOMAS
    2. A fellow researcher discovered the following information. The original post and the reply follows. Hope it helps anyone seeking descendants of Morris THOMAS. http://genforum.genealogy.com/poage/messages/43.html Poage Family Genealogy Forum William POAGE at Boonesborough, 1775 Posted by Wilene Smith on March 24, 1999 at 09:17:19: According to Lyman Draper in his Life of Daniel Boone (Ted Franklin Belue, ed., Stackpole Books, 1998), William POAGE from Virginia arrived with his family at the Boonesborough settlement in September 1775. One of Draper's sources was "notes of conversations with Mrs. Elizabeth THOMAS . . . who was a daughter of William POAGE and was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, September 4th, 1764, and died near Harrodsburg, Kentucky, October 8th, 1851, in her 88th year. Going to Kentucky when she was eleven years old, and having a retentive memory, she was a living chronicle of the events of that period." (page 397, note 32) My question -- who was the Mr. THOMAS that Elizabeth married? Also mentioned by Draper is a list of the "first born" in Kentucky, including "Ann, daughter of William POAGE at Harrodsburg, who became the wife of Gen. John POAGE, who commanded a regiment at the battle of the Thames." (page 426, note 2). Can anyone help me identify Elizabeth's husband, Mr. THOMAS?
