Thank God for the bravery and leadership of staff member John Beebe and others. I was less than twenty feet from the gunman when he started shooting. When they evacuated us from the first floor it was at least 45 minutes before they evacuated the second basement where Jean was locked in an office with other researchers and staff praying. Sue Bishop X-Mailing-List: <VIA-L@rootsweb.com> archive/latest/1521 Resent-Sender: VIA-L-request@rootsweb.com Here's some more information I've found on the Moon family. This stuff can really make your head spin. Notice the name Littleberry....sounds familiar. And the name Diuguid. Regarding the Diuguid family.... 1764 List of Tithes, Buckingham Co., Va.: Anne Duiguid, Charles Patteson, Richard Bennett, and David Via (Squire, Harry, Doll, Sarah, Chole, and Lucy) 9; 1750; 0 The first number is number of persons in the household, second number is number of acres. The names in brackets are slaves. And then there's Col. William Horsley Goodman. He must be related to Roland Horsley who's daughter Elizabeth married Charles Goodman (in 1761 Micajah Via was a witness to a deed where Roland gave a slave to Charles Goodman..it being part of a marriage contract) I believe the above David Via mentioned with the Diguid family was the son of John Via b. ca 1710 of Buckingham, and Amherst Counties. 1. Re: THOMAS and LEMON
    2. The THOMAS in my line was Michael THOMAS of Germanna Colony. Several of his sons moved to Mason/Lewis Co., Ky and I'm descended through his son Plummer THOMAS and his granddaughter Sarah THOMAS. The LEMONs in my family are out of Pa. and I have no firm info on them past Lemuel LEMON who was born in Ohio about 1817. His parents were said (by oral family history) to be from Wales but I've not found any evidence. They probably were Pa. Dutch and the name may originally have been Lehman. I've done some searching but have found too much info to sift through as yet. Sue

    1. Evan Lewis Thomas/Barnesboro PA
    2. Is anyone researching the family of Evan Lewis Thomas, b. in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales on , Jan. 23,1868? He came from a large family that migrated to Wilkes-Barre PA in the 1880's. Evan, who is my grandfather, was Justice of the Peace in Barnesboro PA for 40 years. He was married to Elizabeth Ellen Ashurst, b. Wigan, Manchester, England in 1871. I have been "stuck" for several years now in getting past Evan's parents in my family research. He had so many brothers and sisters, I am hoping that some of their descendants might read this and help me get "un-stuck." Evan's parents were David Thomas and Ann Lewis. When Evan, the fifth born child, came along, David was a coal miner and they lived at 37 Cum Rhyd y Bedd in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales. Evan, and I'm assuming his brother and sisters, were naturalized in Wilkes-Barre PA in the 1880's. But, finding a David Thomas and an Ann Lewis, since those names are so common, has been a challenge. Thanks in advance for any help. I will be willing to share any information I have. Pat Whitfield, PO Box 1068, Zillah WA 98953

    1. DAVID ANDERSON THOMAS - VA/WV
    2. I have just found out, from someone kind enough to give me this information from the Greenbrier Cemetery Books, that the David Anderson Thomas I have been researching is buried at the Old Stone Church in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. The book indicates his birth date as March 27, 1818 and his death as April 2, 1904. His spouse with Amanda Melvina Dych. This has truly been a brick wall for me on this family and I am hoping to connect to others who connect to this line. Can anyone out there help confirm this line or offer more information: Descendants of James Thomas Generation No. 1 1. James1 Thomas was born Abt. 1750. Notes for James Thomas: Information on James Thomas taken from "Greenbrier Family/Heritage" 1997: James Thomas [one of the petitioners for the formation of Greenbrier Co.] was the father of David Thomas. Children of James Thomas are: + 2 i. David2 Thomas+, born Bef. 1790. + 3 ii. Solomon Thomas, born Abt. 1804. Generation No. 2 2. David2 Thomas+ (James1) was born Bef. 1790. He married (Possibly) Elizabeth wife of David Thomas. Notes for David Thomas+: Information from "Greenbrier/Family Heritage" 1997 Book: David Thomas is listed on the 1790 census for Greenbrier Co. He is also listed on the 1787 Tax List for the county. His is listed along with his sons on the 1830 census. David's wife is possibly Elizabeth. She is listed on the 1840 Census with no spouse and was 40-50 years old. Children of David Thomas and (Possibly) Thomas are: + 4 i. David Anderson3 Thomas+, born 1817 in WV; died 1904 in WV. 5 ii. Henry M. Thomas, born 1818. He married Mary McMillion Apr 26, 1832 in Greenbrier Co., WV. 6 iii. Elizabeth Thomas, born Abt. 1819. 7 iv. George Thomas, born Abt. 1820 in Greenbrier Co., WV. Notes for Solomon Thomas: Information on this family comes from Page 169 "Greenbrier Co/Family Heritage" 1997: Nothing is known about the last six children. Children of Solomon Thomas and Mary Thomas are: 9 i. Thomas J.3 Thomas, born 1830. 10 ii. Margaret Thomas, born 1834. 11 iii. Catherine Thomas, born 1839. 12 iv. Julia Ann Thomas, born 1841. 13 v. 3. Hello, I am trying to find more info about this family. My great-grandfather was Charles Thomas. Nobody really knew him, and his death certificate is the only info that I have on him. It lists his birhtdate as 1878 in Iowa, and parents as David Thomas and Ellen Ferguson of Iowa. Anybody have any possible connections? I have had such little luck I would love to hear from anyone who might even just possibly have a wild stretch of a connection. John S. 3. My Michael Thomas, wife Barbary unknown, was on Matrimony Creek in Rockingham Co. N.C. in 1770's. His neighbors were Lemons, Parrish, Price, Land, Snead, Roberts, Dodd. My Michael died in Rockingham Co. circa 1820. Some reports say he was Michael of the Germanna Colony and that Barbara was a Harrensbager. Research has proven this to be untrue. This Lemon/Thomas connection interests me..do any of you know where your Thomases/Lemons were before they ended up in Ohio,Ky. etc? Thanks. Don Thomas Simmons
