Hi I am trying to find my Thomas family in Wales. We know most of the information about them after they came to the US, however we have been unable to find out exactly when they came and who stayed behind in Wales. The mother either remarried prior to the immigration or after; so I would like to know how to begin my search in Wales for our Thomas family. This much I know, they left from Liverpool to New York between 1841-1851. Either my ancestor was 7 when he sailed with his mother, step-father PEAS, brother and sister(which is the most common story) and was born in York. OR My ancestor was born in New York after his father, mother and some siblings came over prior to 1844. 1844 seems to be the year my ancestor was born, but we haven't found any birth documentation yet. There are several Thomas families in New York census' at the right time with a Joseph Thomas that was the correct age, but they all list him being born in New York. Joseph Thomas told his grand-daughter (who is still alive) that he was born in York and about the trip over on the ship when he was only 7. Any ideas, links or information would be greatly appreciated. Sharon

Dear Mr. Buckley, I am researching Joseph Riley Thomas who married Rachel Adams in Habersham Cty., Ga. He is from Rutherford cty., N.C. and she is from Ga. He was b. Apr. 15, 1818. His parents names are unknown as well as siblings or cousins at this time. However, we do know that both parents are from S.C. Rachel's parents are from Pendalton, S.C. as well. We are looking for some connection through the Riley name. I wonder if we may perhaps link somewhere? Thanks, Lucinda Thomas Schaefer

My grandmother was Mary Catherine THOMAS, born 8th August 1904 in Swansea. Her father was Stephen or Steven THOMAS. She appears to have a lot of younger brothers and a sister - Dick, Aiden, Will, Reggie, Stephen (or Steven), Maggie and another brother. This is all I know at the moment, because I've not been doing this for long and have been concentrating on my grandfathers family (PALK). Cathy.
