    3. I am sorry that I can not help with the person you are looking for, however I have a question for you. My Great Grandfather on my mother's side of the family was Randolph A. Thomas he married Nancy Ann Lewis. He was born August 13,1874 in Rowan County Kentucky and Nancy was born July 25, 1870. They were married on September 18, 1892 in West Liberty, Kentucky. Randolph was the son of Andy Thomas and Josephine Reed and he had a brother by the name of Henry Thomas and I thought maybe with the John Henry Thomas name maybe there might be a relationship. I have stuck at this brickwall for a long time and if you don't know maybe someone else on the list does. Brother Tom and Linda Marquis < [email protected] > < [email protected] > Thomas K. and Linda Marquis Newburgh, Indiana,U.S.A. "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." 1. [THOMAS] VanMeter / Garard
    2. Candy
    3. >From "Migration to Kentucky" "... One such area was the Ten-mile Country, long a favorite meeting place for traders and Indians which was located in southwestern Pennsylvania. Much of this section has been granted for service in the French and Indian War. A long-time acquaintance of the Edward Tyler family, Jacob VanMeter, received at least two of these grants. VanMeter's intertwining relationship with the Tylers included his participation in Goshen Baptish Church which he helped to organize in 1774 at Garard's Fort..... Garard's Fort was located on Muddy Creek which flowed from the west into the Monongahela River. " "... When spring finally came hundreds of settlers traveled down the Ohio creating the first great influx of immigrants into that area...Upon arrival those with Jacob VanMeter moved on to Severn's Valley near present day Elizabethtown. Edward and Ann Tyler settled at the Falls and would remain long enought to see it become the town of Louisville, a place of questionable potential except except for it's location at the only natural obstruction in nearly 1000 miles of navigable river - the Falls of the Ohio." Further notes: The Vanmeters and the Garards were the family of Margaret "Peggy" Garard who married Samuel Goodin, and had daughter Hetty Garard Goodin, married to Hardin Thomas 2-24-1789 in Nelson Co. KY. Hardin Thomas (son of Owen Thomas and Mary Hardin) died at Elizabethtown KY May 1837 and was buried at the Thomas Fam. Cem., Freeman Lake, Hardin Co., KY.

    3. Just a note on some of the players in the previous document: The Vanmeters and the Garards were likely the family of Margaret "Peggy" Garard who married Samuel Goodin, and had daughter Hetty Garard Goodin, married to Hardin Thomas 2-24-1789 (son of Owen Thomas and Mary Hardin who was the daughter of Maj. John Hardin m. Catherine Marr). The Pain family is likely the family of Elizabeth Paine married "Big John" Hardin August 04, 1794. Big John is the son of Mark Hardin m. Anne Hartley, grandson of Major John Hardin and Catherine Marr, cousin to Mary Hardin who married Owen Thomas. Sarah Hardin is likely the daughter of Martin Hardin who married her cousin Ben Hardin Sr., son of Major John Hardin (Mary Hardin Thomas's brother). Captain John Hardin is likely the son of Major John Hardin m. Catherine Marr.

    2. Candy
    3. In materials which Larry Hardin was kind enough to loan me, I have found a church log for the Great Bethel Church at Uniontown PA, near Georges Creek and the Cheat River. This record is amazing and lists several Hardin ancestors, as well as many allied families such as Graham, Ashby, Garrard, VanMeter, Thomas, Paine and others, in the time frame of 1770-1784. This was transcribed in 1822 from the original handwritten records. As this is so important to many of us in our searches, I have scanned it into JPEG files. It is about 12 pages. I cannot send attachments to the list, but anyone who write back that they would like a copy sent I will be happy to. Candy

    1. [THOMAS] Francis Marion Thomas, M.D.
    2. Jane Taylor
    3. I am looking for information about my great-grandfather, Francis Marion Thomas, M.D. He was born abt. 1842 in PA. I believe he was born in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County. His father was Abel Thomas, and that is about all of the data I have of his earlier years, other than he served in the Civil War. Francis married Cornelia Peck of Greenwich, CT. They had four children, Frank (who died in NY); Edith (Thomas) Bardwell; Emma (Thomas) Burk; and my grandmother, Edna Marion (Thomas) Fulton. Edna married Arthur A. Fulton. She died on July 3, 1908 when their only child, my father, Donald was 20 mos. old. Francis, Cornelia and their children moved to KS after their four children were born. Any information is appreciated. Jane (Fulton) Taylor Wichita, KS

Thank you for sending such a beautiful message - re: the brothers - it is something we all need when our world is in such a turmoil - Too bad we can't all learn from that message - It fits right in with our family genealogy - in our family we have a cousin who will not share because her great grandfather was hurt by his brother - she has the records and we don't- we all need that bridge! 3. Believe it or not just because you 'ARE NOT' a religious person doesn't mean that we aren't. True, it wasn't genealogy based, however, I've seen lots on the list that isn't, other lists also. Why make a big deal of it. Simply hit your delete key and get on with it.
