I'm looking for information on Hugh A. THOMAS who was born in AR to Zachariah and Sarah Johnson THOMAS. According to the 1920 and 1930 census records for the city of St. Louis, he was a Musician with the Orchestra and the O'Fallon Park Theatre. I'd like to know who he married and the names of his children (he was a widower in 1930). Any info very much appreciated, Jan
I am of the line of descent from Edmond Thomas of Kent, England whose children Christopher and Tristram settled eventually in Talbot County MD. There have been assumptions by some researchers that a Rev. Tristram/Tristam Thomas of St. Nicholas Church, Alfold, Surrey, England was the ancestor of Edmond Thomas. Today, I received the following information from a correspondent on the Surrey-L mailing list on Rootsweb: Came across the following, taken from 'Surrey Archaeological Collections', vol. XXVII of the Surrey Arch. Soc., 1914, page 93:- Within an article 'Rectors & Vicars of Surrey Parishes' Alfold 'Thomas Tristam, not Tristam Thomas, died within a year of his institution. On his death- John Westbrook was inst.29 Jan. 1560, Jane Bray being patron (B.R., Parker, Sede Vae., II, 166)' The quote as found. The reference is unknown to me. I looked up the surname Tristam on the IGI and the earliest reference to a family named Tristam is: Elyzabeth Tristam 02 JUL 1646 Saint Savior, Dartmouth, Devon, England father Jeffrye It appears almost certain that Rev. Thomas/Tristram has nothing to do with the Kent Thomas family. Judith Thomas Voran Strawberry, AZ

I am looking for the parents of Griffith Thomas, born in Chester Co., PA around 1739, moved to what is now Alamance Co., NC (formerly Orange Co.) He died in Orange Co., NC in 1800. Joshua may have been his father. I am also looking for the parents of Nicholas Thomas, born in 1794 in Maryland, married Mary Ann Morris, daughter of Joseph Morris, in Randolph Co., NC in 1812. Nicholas died in 1863 in Davidson Co., NC. He lived in the Rich Fork section near what is now Hasty School near Thomasville, NC. His sister was Jane Thomas, born in 1792 in Maryland, who married Aaron Morris. They lived in Davidson Co., NC. also. One of his brothers was Jeremiah Thomas, born in 1796 in Maryland. Jeremiah married Dorcus Morris in April 14, 1818 in Rowan County. I am also searching for other brothers and sisters of Jane, Nicholas, and Jeremiah Thomas. They may have been born in Washington Co., Maryland. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Mary T.

Hi Tara, Boy, these might be the same George and Robert that were released from prison. To prison in 1843 and released in 1846. Since they are on the 1850 Sullivan Co census seems a good clue. George b. c 1824 would have been 19 or 20 when send to prison, if him. Robert b. c 1827 would have been only 16 or 17. Did they send people to prison that young back then? You don't think that Barbery is his wife and Ellen his daughter? Or do you think Barbery might have died? Does the George in the Kentucky information you have show a daughter, Ellen? Do you have access to the 1840 Sullivan Co. census that might show George and Robert with one of the Thomas families? What other Thomas families are living around them in 1850 census? The George Thomas I am wondering about married Julia Williot/Whiliot I believe in Sullivan Co. Then moved to Monroe Co., TN. George might have died around this time in 1840's and left Julia a widow, and she moves into Bradley Co., where one of her sons, Richard lives. I have to go find my information on this George Thomas. There is also the George Slater Thomas who is suppose to be from Sullivan Co. too. Who the above George and Robert Thomas are related to, I don't know. I hope someone can help on sorting this out. Barb -----Original Message----- From: Tara Frierson [mailto:[email protected]] Barb, I do have the 1850 Sullivan County, TN census that lists a George Thomas age 26, Barbary age 19, Ellen age 1 and Robt age 23. It shows George Thomas as a "ditcher". I am not positive that these are the same men and I am also trying to figure out if he is the same George Thomas that moves to Bath County, KY before 1860 and marries a Polly Kendrick. If anyone has any information on this line, I would really appreciate it! Is anyone working on the James Thomas line from Fauquier Co. Va. He was maried to Margaret "Peggy"Stinson/Stephenson Feb. 29, 1788 (Fauquier Marr. & Bonds John K Gott.) They had one daughter Catherine. In Guardian Bonds of Fauquier Co. Va., John Martin, guardian of Catherine Stevenson , Orphan of James Thomas, dec'd 28 Dec 1807. Security: Tilman Martin NOTE with bond: "This is to certify that I make my choice of John Martin as my guardian this day to secure my property, which is as follows: one feather bed, one cow, and one mare. Dec. 28, 1807, Catherine stevenson, 18 yrs of age. Teste, Tilman Martin, Hezekiah Martin." JP Wm. Skinker. She married him the same day. If "Peggy" was her mother she was still living in 1815.and I understand that at that time the court appointed a guardian even if the mother was living and it was usually a male kin. My question is did Catherine have any siblings and if so what happened to them? James Thomas also put up bond for Elizabeth Stephenson (Margaret "Peggy" mother who was a widow of James Stephenson) marriage to John Moxley Dec. 29, 1791 (Marr. Bk by John K. Gott) This is all data I have on James Thomas and Margaret Stephenson. Did they have any other children besides Catherine? Who were James Thomas' parents? Mille
I'm looking for information on the family of John THOMAS who was in Hardin Co. KY in the mid-1800's. His wife was Margaret JONES and children were Cintha, Elijah, William H., Laura E., John Waverly, Zachariah A., Samuel, Letitia, Margaret and Hundley, whose first name I think was James. By the early 1880's John, Samuel and James were in Washington Co. MO and were cigar makers. John later moved on to Washington Co. AR where he and Zach were cigar makers. Zach married Sarah JOHNSON and John married Ann CRUTCHER. I'd love to hear from anyone with information on any of the family and would appreciate any help. Jan
