Hi! I have recently discovered that there's a strong possibility that one of my ancesteral families may have come from Ireland to NY with Dr. Thomas Clark and his congregation. The group sailed on the ship "John" departing from Newry, Ireland on 10 May 1764 and arrived in NY on 28 July. Here is what I found on one website about the excursion: "The ship's arrival was reported in the New York Gazette, August 6, 1764: 'Last week in the Ship John, from Newry, Ireland, Luke Kiersted, master, there arrived about three hundred passengers, a hundred and forty of whom, together with the Rev. Clarke, embarked on the 30th ult., with their stores, farming and manufacturing utensils, in two sloops, for Albany, from whence they are to proceed to the lands near Lake George, which were lately surveyed for their accommodation, as their principal view is to carry on the linen and hempen manufacture to which they were all brought up.' I have scoured the internet and thus far haven't located a passenger list. Does anyone know if a passenger list exists? Thanks so much for your time! Best, SueB

Before 1820, such lists did not have to be archived (although Pennsylvania has them back to 1800) So, you might just consider yourself lucky to have found the detail you did :-) However, there is always a small chance that someone has reconstructed the list or that one did survive - somewhere. Finding it may be a problem!
