Rieck Wessel Sinnen b. 08 April 1851 in Germany d. 20 July 1892 in Nebraska, USA It states that he arrived to the United States in the year of 1890. It would seem he went straight to the Nebraska, USA area. This is all I know of this individual. I am not sure if he came alone or with family. Thank you in advance for all your help. Once you know your ancestor's state of entry, you can search microfilms. Most states are indexed, so this will make your job slightly easier. You can order films in to a nearby Family History Centre, or have NARA do the job (once you have precise details) Once you know your state, you can get a list of film numbers (NARA & FHC) at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/nara_indexbyport.shtml Scroll down to the state you want and click on the link, then find the film # you need The staff of the National Archives will undertake a search of the original records for a fee To find your nearest FHC you can go to http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp There are some ideas for researching hard to find ancestors on ships lists after 1820 at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/usaaft1820.shtml http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/filmnos_newyork.shtml NARA & FHC film numbers for NY passenger lists after 1820 http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/tousa_ny.shtml Passenger Lists to New York all years http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/searchnyships.shtml Search Engine for online Internet Passenger Lists to NY ______________________________ X-Message: #3 Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2006 09:32:24 -0400 From: koala <koalamoore@gmail.com> To: TheShipsList-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <79adb7ff0608110632ne51f2a0k536fc8c616524907@mail.gmail.com> Subject: Need a transcription Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Hi, I have found my 'probable' ancestor but as I am in Maine, USA I naturally cannot visit the PROV to get a transcription of his immigration details. Fraser had already provided us with "The Scottish Line" (McIlwraith MacEacharn) Fleet, to which the Scottish Hero belonged. For this voyage we have the Arrival & Voyage Reports ; Passenger List ; Deaths at Sea ; Crew List and Passenger Testimonial. Steamboat Chambly, which are the last 16 lists I have for 1824. Chambly was a brand new steamboat in 1824 and the July 16th trip was the first Quebec-Montreal trip for her. (that 1st list has a link to the newspaper report about her). Surprisingly, she took a little while to catch on. Her first few trips went . . Three Rivers, Sorel (or Berthier) via Chambly to Montreal, with stops at other way-ports, but then she began to follow the same routing as the other steamboats, so maybe the "via Chambly" was not so popular. I will now be returning to 1826 with many many more steamboats (so far I have only completed the 30 New Swiftsure trips for that year) Lastly . . . I decided to add some "Google Ad" links to some TheShipsList webpages, to offer links to additional resources for TSL visitors. I have no control of which Ads are displayed, but I have selected only "SafeSearch" option. Some of the links are great, but some others are a bit funny for our "history" pages, offering ships for sale, holidays on steamboats, how to get a green card, or looking for a naturalization attorney . . but, I suppose the people mentioned in our webpage content, back in the 1820s --->> &c. aren't exactly advertising on google <smile> Please share this *new* for TheShipsList website email, with any other list to which you belong if you think it might be of interest or value to those list members (in other words, on-topic). Enjoy !
