I remember my husband speaking of going to the So. Pacific on the SS Lurline. He was with the USNavy attached to the Marines 1st Division and served in Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands. He passed away September 18, 1999. Seeing the name the Lurline brought back memories. I know they used it as a troop transport ship.
