I do believe that the others are correct, regarding the paper. My father had a similar one, and it was for crossing the International DateLine (I believe). I think he also had something for crossing the equator. He too was with the US Navy, stationed in the Solomon Islands and Bouganville. He was with the VF-17, Skull & Crossbones aviation group -- who flew the Corsairs into battle. He was on an air craft carrier (the name I can't recall right now), but when the Corsairs were found to not land well on the carriers (until changes were made), they were all sent to the Solomon Islands. Dad passed away in 1972 so I can not ask him, but I do have his things packed away. I will go through them again to see if his "blue paper" is intact.
