    1. Germans To America, Through Canada....
    2. Hi Listers; Thanks for all your help in the past. Is there an Index of "Germans to Canada" available? I wondered if it may be similar to Glazier & Philby's "Germans to America"? I am searching for Friederich Edward Schneider b. about 1820 and his wife Henrietta Drews Schneider b. about 1824 who emigrated from area of Strelkau, Lippusch and Berent, Prussia we believe about 1882 to 1885. Family members included Albertine Carolina b. 1844, Henrietta Friedereke b. 1846, Ferdinand Albert b. 1848, Wilhelmina Caroline b. 1849, Emilie Friedereke b. 1851, John Frederick b. 1854, August Herman b. 1862, and Rudolph Alexander b. 1863. The family lived in Detroit, MI (Edward, Henrietta and Rudolph et al 1886 to 1894, later) and Port Huron, MI (August and family 1888 to 1900, later). Firstborn Albertine Carolina Schneider born 1844 married Carl Hochleitner and had a child in Port Huron, MI in 1874. Carl Hochleitner arrived July 12, 1869, on board ship Smidt at New York from Bremen. Albertine (Schneider nor Hochleitner) was not on board this 1869 arrival. My extensive searches in Germans to America, and Steve Morse at ports up the Atlantic coast have turned up nothing solid, other than solid frustration. The family could have arrived in Canada and then traveled west by train to cross the St. Clair River at Port Huron, or at Sarnia to Detroit. I appreciate your advice very much....... Thanking you all in advance, Ernie
