    1. Bagemuehl/Prenzlau - Brandenburg Emigration Records

    3. I have finally gotten birthplace information regarding my Prell line and am thrilled that decade old brick wall is scaled!!! Earlier this week I received information from another source that my great grandfather, August Friederich Wilhelm Prell was born in Bagemuehl, Prussia. In researching this line I finally stumbled on the Brandenburg Emigration Records on Ancestry.com. I have found that the emigration records are listed with my 2nd great grandfather as Heinrich Wilhelm Prell and not Frederick or Friederich as he is listed on several census schedules. Heinrich/Friederich is found on the Emigration records with the rest of his family. I am also finding that the emigration records do not list the ship that these grandparents arrived on in 1853 so I am once again wondering how to find that information. Heinrich Prell was born in 1821, August born in 1842. Naturally it is another hard road to cross! Is there someone who can guide me to more records for Brandenburg, I'm not fi! nding much at all on the internet. I assume that by looking at an old map and finding Bagemuehl on a map SW of Berlin and Prenzlau near the border that Prenzlau is the city or harbor that they left from. Any forward guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. I haven't had the chance to go to the Genealogy Library here in Kansas City but would appreciate names of books or perhaps microfilm that can be ordered for Brandenburg records. Below is the information I have on this line including the newest from this week. Also, if any corrections are needed for correct place names please let me know. Most states are indexed, so this will make your job slightly easier. You can order films in to a nearby Family History Centre, or have NARA do the job (once you have precise details) Once you know your state, you can get a list of film numbers (NARA & FHC) at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/nara_indexbyport.shtml Scroll down to the state you want and click on the link, then find the film # you need The staff of the National Archives will undertake a search of the original records for a fee but you must know the name of the ship, the date of arrival, and the port of arrival. To obtain a search request form, write to: General Reference Branch (NNRG), National Archives and Records Administration, 7th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20408 and request NATF Form 81, Order for Copies of Ship Passenger Arrival Records. To find your nearest FHC you can go to http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp There are some ideas for researching hard to find ancestors on ships lists after 1820 at http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/usaaft1820.shtml Good luck!
