Pat If you just type Mount Pelee in the subject line, you will get some info on it. Apparently, there were only two surviors. Didn't mention anyone else. He wrote, in considerable detail of the horrific events of the day, when Mont Pelee erupted and the town of St Pierre was wiped out - some 29000 died. Now I know this acount exists. I came across it in a collection of material on volcanoes published in a folder around 1975 (??) I don't know who was the publisher, but I do recall that the name given to series (there were many such folders on a wide range of topics) was 'Jachdaw' Can you assist in any way? I've Googled, without success - but it's hard to know what to ask for! I write in hope Pat Ruddell ______________________________ X-Message: #3 Date: Fri, 05 May 2006 10:45:42 -0300 From: Candida Owens - Simmonds Ltd <candida.owens@btinternet.com> (Metal Trading) To: TheShipsList-L@rootsweb.com Message-id: <5.1.1.6.1.20060505104446.00b16e00@pop1.ns.sympatico.ca> Subject: Louis Arthur Owens Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Dear Sirs, I am trying to find information on the web about my grand father, Cmdr Louis Arthur Owens of the Orient Steam Navigation Co.
