I have recently been searching for information on the Anglo Indian which went from Scotland to Australia in 1883, and have joined the ships list, and looked at many sources of information, and found 1998 & 1999 entries, and was greatly assisted by the Passenger Ship History Service I have found that a subsciber's great Grandfather C H Hillcoat was the Master and that his wife died at sea of diptheria. I found an entry in another piece of information which gave the departure date from Grenock, Scotland: 7th July 1883 arrived Brisbane, Australia: 1st October, 1883 Captain Charles Hillcoat. 562 passengers My Mother's Grandfather and his sister went from Glasgow to Australia in 1883 on the 'Anglo Indian' Our family history states that on the journey to Australia from Scotland, the ship was only one day's sailing time from the island of Sumatra when the volcano Krakatoa erupted.
